International Society of Infectious Diseases-Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISID-NTD) Conference, July 8-10, 2011, Boston, MA
At the inaugural ISID-NTD Conference, DNDi announced the first R&D project in its new filarial (helminth) parasitic-worm drug portfolio to address unmet needs of patients in Africa and Asia. This first project is focused on developing flubendazole, a macrofilaricide targeting adult worms, for the treatment of onchocerciasis (river blindness) and lymphatic filariasis (elephantiasis), co-infected with loiasis (Loa loa, or African eye worm).
